dye-sublimation: large format

Dye-sublimation is a heat transfer process of printing to fabrics. You can think of it as an iron-on on steroids. A conventional iron-on is “glued” to the fabric and will peel off if you accidentally put it in the dryer. The heat transfer process in dye-sublimation releases the ink from the paper and fuses it with the fibers in the fabric. It can be washed and dried as many times as you like without ruining the design.

The results are beautiful, vibrant prints that can be used as banners, sewn to form barricade covers, display piping covers, and even stretch table covers. Often projects stated a specific color call-out or included an actual sample for color-matching purposes, which meant the artwork needed to be adjusted to get the right outcome once the product made its way through the heat transfer stage.
